Caught a 40 lb mahi mahi yesterday around that same spot..... got hooked off some weed lines and a lobster trap

I don't remember how far off the coast but after you get beyond the "edge" of the Gulfstream, I don't think it matters--just find the weed lines and hope for the best.

I have "rethought" my comment on location and am reposting. It was off Key Biscayne but was a few miles offshore. It takes about 30 minutes from Mashta Island at Key Biscayne to get out past Fowey. We look for weed lines or debris--dolphin (fish)lurk under and along the suface where the weed and debris occur. It may be from 1 to 5 or more miles from the edge of the Gulfstream.
