Nick: *looks at his spot next to Sel and walks slowly over. He sits down next to her, their arms brushing each others lightly as he settles* uh, thanks...
Sel: *avoids eye contact with him*
Jake: *Sees Sel get uncomfortable* uh... you ok, Sel?
Sel: *glances up at him. Speaks quickly and quietly to avoid the attention from them all* yeah, fine.
Nick: *looks around trying to change the subject* so... uh... Frankie, can you get the cereal boxes?
*after everyones finished eating*
Sel: *sitting there quietly playing with her spoon and bowl*
Nick: *sitting there, tapping on the table, half listening to the boys chat and laugh while he sneaks glances at Sel*
Jake: *jumps out his seat with Frankie* well, see you two in a minute... *about to walk out*
Sel: *drops her spoon and turns to them, sliding off her chair* where are you going?
Frankie: *confused* uh... upstairs to get dressed?!
Jake: *eyes Sel weirdly* dont worry about her... shes just... being weird... come on, lets go *pulls Frankie out the room*
Sel: *picks up her bowl and the ones the boys left and takes them to the sink to avoid talking to Nick*
Nick: *doesnt look at Selena, either but whispers* your gonna have to talk sometime...
Sel: *screws up her face to the wall, knowing she was caught out and left alone with Nick* uh... i never stopped talking...
Nick: *doesnt believe her* you ever gonna act normal to me again or not?
Sel: *drops the bowls in the sink and spins around facing his direction, holding onto the sides of the counter for support* you tell me exactly how im supposed to act around you then, Nick...
Nick: *half turns in his chair and stares back at her, not saying a word*
Sel: *sighs and walks out the room quickly, she could feel the blood rushing around her body, her heart was thumping so hard in her chest that she put one hand on it to make sure it wasnt going to explode*
Nick: *watched her go, knowing he shouldnt have pushed her so hard into talking to him, then. He always seemed to have everything amazing with Sel, then hed go and say something honest and stupid, then the next thing he knew, the weirdness all started again...*
*later on at the boys school*
Sel: *squeezes Jakes hand* later, dude. Stay out of trouble *smiles at him*
Jake: *grins back* whatever. Coming Frankie?
Frankie: *pulls Sel down to kiss her cheek, knuckle-touches Nick and runs off with Jake* lets go, man.
Sel: *smiles at them both before turning and walking back down the street ahead of Nick*
Nick: *sighs and catches up to her*
Sel: *hears him coming and looks down, feeling awkward*
Nick: *falls into step with her* you gonna talk to me now or not?
Sel: *shrugs* like i said before, i never stopped talking...
Nick: *sighs* Sel, you already knew how i felt... why is this such a shock to you?
Sel: *thinks because maybe i felt secure knowing that youd always be there for me... because i knew that no matter what, youd like me for me.... because if something happens between us and we split, i wont be heartbroken and left without a home or best friend* *just shrugs* its not.
Nick: *rolls his eyes* then whats wrong with you?
Sel: nothing, im fine.
Nick: *stops walking* Sel, are you mad at me for it or something?
Sel: *continues down the road, speaking over her shoulder* Nick, im NOT upset and im NOT mad.
Nick: *speeds up again* and IM not stupid. Do we have to have another argument about this? We only just agreed not to let anything stupid come between us, and your here acting like this.
Sel: *raises her eyebrows but says nothing*
Nick: *sighs* just come speak to me when you get over this childish reaction *walks off ahead of her*
Sel: *Watches after him. How could he not understand why she was acting like this? How did he not have the problems swirling around his head, all of them pointing to one simple element: Heartbreak*
