Found on a video compilation entitled "The Very Best Of Herb Alpert", the audio track here is called "Ode To The Sun," presented here in full stereo. It was used to open and close the video program and is essentially Herb Alpert playing his trumpet with the accompaniment of co-composer Michel Colombier. The video compilation, compiled and produced by Lani Hall from old Tijuana Brass TV specials and '80s-vintage music videos, was never released in the United States, but showed up in both Great Britain on PAL VHS and in Japan on both VHS and LaserDisc. Since Japanese LaserDiscs are capable of being played on US-NTSC equipment, this version of the title represents the best possible source for both the video and audio.
The song, "Ode To The Sun" was never released anywhere else to my knowledge, so its inclusion on this video is all the more remarkable to a Herb Alpert fan like myself.
The program opens with the track playing behind the short opening titles and some images from Herb's then more-recent solo videos. The "Ode To The Sun" track fades into shouts of "Ole!" The track returns at the close of the end credits. You don't have to have sharp ears to hear my edit at about 1:15 into this video, but it's the best I could manage with the source I had to work with.
The images start with some A&M Video logos found on the start of this program. I then include the cover of LaserDisc and some historical A&M images found on their old website and inner-sleeves of records.
@turoturom - I'm told the song was also used in a documentary about Herb's artwork called Music For Your Eyes.

This piece was originaly created and performed by Herb Alpert & Michel Colombier, for the "Angels" exhibit by Tony Duquette in San Francisco. Percussion by Michael Fisher. Good post in any case. Thanks
