I'm a first generation Canadian. My mother is from Koblenz, Germany and my dad from Southern Italy. We always celebrated Christmas of the 24th of December.
In the US we celebrate it on the 25th and the 24th is Christmas Eve. I have a question for you.... Where do you live right now? I like your videos, keep posting them! You are funny and I'd like to learn German!
Ich glaube, bisher hat sich keiner für Frankreich gemeldet... The official Christmas day in France is the 25th. On the 24th we still have to go to work. Traditionally we go to the church in the evening or in the night (24th to 25th) and gifts are put under the Christmas tree during the night. We are not allowed to open them before the morning (25th).
We celebrate on the 24th and the 25th is also just like a family day to relax and play games. I come from a Norwegian-German heritage, I pretty sure that's where it comes from, because other people in our area celebrate on the 25th. I live in South Dakota by the way.
I live in Indiana, and we celebrate Christmas on the 25th. Wir feiern Weihnachten gewöhnlich am 25en Dezember. Dies ist der Tag, wo wir wechseln Geschenken und machen einen Großen Weihnachtsessen. Hope that helps! Also, kudos on your accent! An interesting mix of German and Aussie!
