  • That's in way better shape than my Apollo 11 sheet record.

  • @XmyAssYTmofo Same here. Looks like a magazine subscriber died and their flexi-disks ended up scattered in a dirty thrift store. There's a tiny hole through my Apollo 11.

  • @burrexkeefAGAIN LOL, I just remembered that you said you stuffed these "extra" style into some LPs you bought. I'd do it too, but so far my Apollo 11 is the only flexi-disk I've ever scored.

  • @XmyAssYTmofo Yeah, it was my first time doing that and the first time I'd every really seen any flexi-disks "for sale"...in a thrift store where they treat their records like a pile of garbage. Yeah, I'll consolidate a little in a place like that. LOL They don't even count the whole stack there anyway. They go by what they think is about 2/3rds of the pile...it seems. 12 albums? Uuum, how bout 7 bucks? ...and we'll just go ahead and slide these 45s into the bag for you. Sure...

  • @burrexkeefAGAIN I'd left one of the disks out and when the guy saw it he acted confused like he didn't know what to do with it. He grumbled and just put it in the bag.

  • You must admit there's something kind of charming about the idea of finding one of these things bound into a magazine, that mp3 downloads or even CDs can't match.

  • It's great to hear this record again after so many years. I had this as a kid and sadly don't know where it went. I still find it haunting to listen to, especially the second half of the second side. Dr. Payne's narration style reminds me a bit of Carl Sagan.

  • The songs of the whales are so important in the times we face. It is 2012 and the whales are here to help us humans with their message. Thank you for posting this video...not only is it nostalgic with the turntable and flexi-disc, but there is a relevant and crucial message to be heard!!!!

  • I remember when these came out! It was the first time I saw a flexidisk as a kid and was confused by them "A floppy record? How is this possible" - But this is an incredible recording all the same

  • ♥ .

  • I always knew this existed since I saw an unused one intact with a Jan 1979 issue, this is the first time I've heard it.
