And more generally, poetry, literature and the visual arts use ambiguity to leave space for personal imaginative interpretation. As you say - that's the beauty of it.

Just been woken by the New Year fireworks. I'm old enough to remember when "Luca" first appeared. Such a beautiful song. But it took me a few listenings to realise the meaning; instead of the usual love song, this was about CHILD ABUSE!
I need a filter to exclude love songs . . .
Your duet is of course magnificent. But I miss the extended instrumental coda on Suzanne Vega's version. A Piece of Piss for Xavier, surely?

@duckbiter Funny how songs all take on different meanings for whoever is listening. I guess that's the beauty of it. Before I looked up why she wrote this song, I actually thought it was about domestic violence towards women, which seems to fit quite well too.
