RR is a dog brave like a warrior
strong as if where a lion
and with a heart of a child....

I am sorry for your loss. Happy to see that he was well cared for and loved. Thank you for having the strength to share a little bit of him with us.

@cheeseydane Rhodesians are in a different class. I have 2. Jack (12) and Deacon (3) . RR's are the greatest of all warriors and they prove this while they are here with us. Fierce, Protective, Loving and Gentle. So when their time comes and their name is called, just remember it is a reward for them for a job well done. Never say "goodbye" to them..just say "see ya in a bit" and they WILL be there waiting for you on the other side...among the greatest warriors that ever lived.

My dog is a cross between a RR and boxer, so she looks exactly like yours... :)

Thanks for sharing your memories. I think about my Storm - his epitaph (written across my heart) - "Storm - he made me laugh every day. No better friend than that."

What a great video and a lovely dog. We lost our RR back in July this year and I still miss him every day. We are getting a RR puppy this week and although he will never replace our last one, he will be welcome addition to our family.
They really are the best dogs!

A gorgeous boy. I bet you miss you him. Lost my Ridgie in 2008 - miss him like crazy.

@cheeseydane : there is one video in particular circulating here on YT that tries to say the breeding of RR's should be outlawed etc.. basing it on the fact that, yes, many many yrs ago they did do this (euthanize pups with no ridge)-we're talking early 1900's-and it IS dispicable! Problem with animal rights activists is they are nut jobs across the board: they try to empathize with ,say, a fish(imagining it's "feelings" etc..) -this is absolute lunacy,& yet they are pro abortion-go figure

Have to agree on this although i am wary. Im not a breeder but have seen no or very little evidence(hearsay) to support these claims. Ridgebacks are fantastic dogs with or without ridges, makes no difference, and breeders know this. I have a few gripes with the breeding of Ridgebacks (ie, there are too many doing it with the wrong dogs, but nothing to support euthanasia) but then i think 99% of dogs should be castrated anyway.

Im watching this and I see so many similarities in your RR and mine (disposition wise)......I had mine for 15 years.I miss him more than words can say. Not sure if Ill ever get another dog, losing him was just too much on me. But they are the greatest dogs ever created !!!

Its hell, but just think of your future dog out there somewhere and what a life you could give him/her. If you think of your future dog as coming from a dogshome, then surely theres no decison to make.

Beautiful dog! And he looked like he had a good life with you two. I love my Rh. mix, her name is Ginger and she is the best. I know what it feels like to lose a trustworthy dog, I had to put one down last year(whoa), just remember-
YOUR DOGS LIFE IS EVERYTHING YOU MAKE IT TO BE!!!!
