Ever since the Islamist party took over the Gov. Turkey's democracy has been compromised and the Government is slowly turning the country towards Iran.You may argue this, but it is a sad reality. Just take a long look at the people around you and you will see the evidence.Ataturks efforts and what he fought for are all going down the drain while the world watches.Turkey is more 'Islamic today then it was 10 years ago.

Well, United States is predominantly Catholic-Christian. Do they call themselves "modern christian country"? Or either, "christian democracy"? Why do they use islam as label for Turkey. We are a DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC since 1923. Islam is just a religion which supposed to have nothing to do with the government. When they stick on us an islam label, Turkey look just like other islamic fundamentalist countries. Turkey's democracy is actually very close to many E.U. countries.

Let me clarify...The West calls Turkey a Modern Muslim country because it is predominantely muslim AND is the only country with the muslim majority that is a Muslim ally...It is NOT an insult.

1) What is "modern Turkey with its' own culture"? It could be mean anything. Does that mean It's more islamic? Because if you pretend islam as the only culture of Turkey. It's wrong. When it comes to modernizm Yes! there is actually only one modernizm, which is being a westernized democracy......

2) Whoever says that you can be a modern muslim country is lying. Turkey is not a modern muslim country. Turkey is a democratic republic since 1923 that has the constitution. This constitution is a combination of swiss-french and german laws...I can talk a lot more of being a complete democracy, but I'm tired of that too.

Obama is a great person, hope he will change the wrong image of Turkey as a Mid Eastern and Arabic country in American minds, and the wrong image of a criminal USA in Turkish minds.
