Man sliders was an awesome show, well it was until they recasted Quinn Mallory's character I stopped watching it after that...

Why did they change the character Quinn? I know it was something to do with him being "merged" with a pal of his in the sliders wormhole.....but it wasn't a very good move really. Did Jerry O Connel feel he had had enough? Or was it a dubious bright idea that somebody had, to bring in a fresh character? Whatever the explanation....the series went downhill in the end for me
