Not the runaway train but Number 9 comes roaring up the hill from Weaverham on a rarely used section of single track. Heading for Liverpool, Lime St, USA gives a 'Spirited performane' on the climb over the M56 motorway bridge, towards Runcorn. Next seen in Lime St Station. Then returning south bound to Chester, over the Runcorn bridge, thru Runcorn Station.

  • is that liverpool limestreet when it was backing out

  • @MrAnimationluvr It is indeed.

  • @RailMon cool.......do they come in often these days

  • @MrAnimationluvr No not on this line. But there are steam hauled railtours on most weekends in various parts of the country. Many of them in the north of England. You can find out times etc from a web site called: UK steam info.

  • this section of line is the section from Frodsham to Runcorn - is used by saturday only trains generally Llandudno / Chester to Runcorn / Liverpool in that direction only!!! This location is at the crossing bridge over the M 56 at Beechwood.

  • I used to walk four miles to a tiny station on the ECML called Markinch. There was an old engine shed next to the station which was always locked. On one occasion two men emerged from said engine shed and left for their lunch. The door was shut but not locked and being a child I couldn't resist a look. I can't describe my feelings when I opened the door, to flood the shed with sunlight and reveal an A4 "The Union of South Africa". Even now I wonder if I imagined it all.

  • Nice vid,ive got a short clip of it running through Todmorden Train station on 29.07.07

  • Magic, ilove steam locos. It's amazing the amount that have survived and the stories behind some of them especially 71000 Duke of Gloucester. And of course the work that the people involved have put in.

  • i think that union of south africa is the best A4 ever built its a shame its moved from the svr
