Shaykh Waleed Basyouni addresses the current terrorism and jihad at AlMaghrib Institute's IlmFest 2009.

Shaykh Waleed Basyouni is a frequent guest speaker at Universities, Conventions, Radio Talk Shows, Television, Interfaith meetings, and community centers nationally and internationally. He is also a member of the North American Imam Federation (NAIF), Assembly of Muslim Jurists in America (AMJA)-Fatwa and Research Committee, Director of Texas Dawah Convention, and Advisor to numerous Islamic Societies/Organizations around the US.

Shaykh Waleed Basyouni graduated with a Bachelors in Islamic Sciences from Al-Imam Muhammad University, KSA; did his Masters in Islamic Theology, World Religions and Modern Religious Sects from Al-Imam Muhammad University; and acquired a Doctorate in Theology. He is also an instructor at the American Open University in Alexandria, VA, USA, and serves as, the Imam of Clear Lake Islamic Center, Houston, TX, USA. Shaykh Waleed has Ijaazahs in reciting the Holy Quran and in several books of Hadeeth, awarded by various scholars. He studied under great scholars time such as Shaykh Ibn Baz, Abdul-Razzaq Afify and others.

Shaykh Waleed is the latest addition to AlMaghrib Institute's faculty of instructors. He teaches Rays of Faith: Fundamentals of Faith 201 and Torch Bearers: Scholars of Islam.

Salaam aleikum I am against suicide. But what is this brother doing besides standing and watching?? Why is he helping to intimidate those who sincerely want to take on the duty to defend their Ummah ? I'm sorry, i can't watch any further, after 5&half min. Women and children are getting raped and murdered. Shouldn't we do anything? anything more? When your child is hungry, do you only make Dua? When your mother gets raped; do you only make Dua? @BaniAdamAlaihisSalam Brother, I would recommend you finish the video (I know I'm late in responding). But toward the end he does say that there is no question that all Muslims have a right to self defense. He was speaking more against groups like Al Qaeda that target civilians and encourage suicide and ultimately produce no benefit for the Muslims. I think what ends up happening is that Muslims fight out of anger but with no strategy for true improvement. Allahu Alim.

Do you undermine the power of du'a brother?.... Du'a is a weapon of the believer. We do not fight with stick and stones when the enemy has tanks, missiles, nuclear warheads, the most devastating weapons in history?... We play politics until it is clear and we have the means to fight. We prepare ourselves, spiritually, physically, mentally and put our trust in Allaah. Until we get means, and the odds of winning are good enough, then we fight.

In fact, eyewitnesses have said that it is the foreign forces who target the non combatants and then put the blame on those who strive in Allah's Cause. Tell me, who are you going to believe? Your brothers in Islam or CNN? I'm not saying that those who strive in Allah's Cause are completely free of blame but there are rare cases where non combatants are targeted by over zealous youth who have not joined the proper group. We all make mistakes.

so are you saying blowing yourself up and killing hundreds of inncoence is Islamic? im pretty sure Allah told us in the Qu'ran that to kill 1 innocent is like killing all of humanity, and u know im no scholar but im pretty sure suicide is haram, and Saddam might have had an iron grip on Iraq but it aint the US thats killed most of the innocents its the Jihadis there that are straping bombs on there chests and walking into a market where there are no soldiers, only other muslims, women & children
