is it safe driving truck across the country? how dangerous is trucking

Trucking is dangerous. Our actions can make it more dangerous than it has to be or less dangerous than it has to be. As far as violence and crime?

It happens, but rarely. You have seen the news random shootings on the highway. Thats probably as likely to happen to any driver as it would if you were home at the club or even the movies on a friday or saturday night. Nothing you can really do about that but there is no need to worry about that unless you drive like an idiot and provoke people lol.

As far as crime. Truckers getting robbed, assaulted, etc.
It has happened and will happen again. Sometimes you can park in dark places or high crime area and so you should be more alert to you surroundings,

In many cases you can avoid exposure to places that are questionable to be parked by simply planning ahead. All you have to do is stop at a truckstop or rest area before reaching that area you think may be dangerous and get up early to get to where you need to be.

Again, this is not something to waste time worrying about. It doesn't happen that often. You more likely to get robbed in other situations at home.

The highest level of danger comes from being on the highway. Your focus should be on highway safety and health. Stay alert and in good shape is a better protector of your safety than protection from crime.

Your more likely to develop a terminal illness or getting in an accident than getting robbed.
