Recently purchased a new Sony Vaio S Series ("Blue Label" exclusive to Best Buy). Right after pulling it out of the box, I noticed intermittent sound problems. The most annoying is a high pitched tone that sometimes occurs when you play sounds...music, effects, etc. Most of the time, the tone stops when the sound stops (see video) but in other cases, the tone will come on and not stop. Any idea what the problem is? I most likely will return the laptop as defective.

  • It's a great laptop...good performance, bright crisp screen, nice battery life. A friend has one and doesn't have the sound problem.

  • SONY,as a consumer,we are really angry with you.I bought S series laptop 2 months ago and 1 month ago I took my laptop to service due to speaker problem. Now I am still waiting to get my new laptop.

  • Mine did it to, did all the updates, hasn't done it since...

  • I got the same problem. I see a bunch of forums where people think its the fan or hard drive....how dumb. anyways i think its' more of a software problem, cuz when i sleep it and wake it, sound get back. it happened right beore i watched yor video.

  • man ...you should hear mine, its loud, very loud and i cant listen to it at all,it takes over.i have called sony and they made it to my house, changed the speakers, same thing, its driving me crazy!!! NO MORE SONY FOR ME EVER!!! Definitely not hardware issue, its software

  • The sound problem that you have is not a hardware problem. I would recommend that you go on upgrade the BIOS Firmware and then update the sound driver.

  • i exactly have the same laptop.... and the same problem, after a few month it's desapear.... i don't know why.. "/ and i do the purchase at best buy too!
