  • I am not promoting agnosticism. I simply say that Huxley coined the term. I disagree with Huxley on many points, but recognize his insights just as I recognize the insights of many people with whom I disagree. Progress in learning is always a matter of exploration, extension, and correction. Substantive arguments, even if vitriolic, shed light.

    "Stuff" is Julian Baggini's term.

Research David Mermin's remarks on the "Moon ?"

ID is about origins, and not limited to life sciences.

  • the trouble with quantum physics is that we don't know what it's actually telling us. it's a collection of mathematics that predicts the results of our experiments, but it doesn't tell us _how_ or _why_ we get the results that we get. this is why there are many different "interpretations" of quantum physics, that have different propositions about what may "actually" be happening

check out the Wikipedia article "Interpretation_of_quantum_mechanics"

  • I may not ultimately agree with your analysis, but I completely appreciate your approach and mature way of presenting your case. I wish there were more like you....

  • science is evolving

the greatest reason why i have respect for science

is because they can say those 3 little words that make me feel all fuzzy and exited "I DON'T KNOW"

and FYI that intelligent designer is a pink unicorn definetly not the christian god

    next

  • i know this is unrelated but i've always wanted to know, The church has publicly been against abortions and my question is why? because god knows whats going to happen, when it happens, where it happens, etc. so god knows even before the abortion the childs fate, right? so why is this an issue? if a child dies i've always heard from christians that god needed that child in heaven, but if when a baby gets aborted thats not the case...

  • "Has to be" is not a proof, not a theory, not a hypothesis, conjecture, nor educated guess...

Dark matter is not physical stuff, in that it can't be directly detected, but is believed to exist by most astrophysicists. Dark matter may turn out to be described in some other fashion eventually and that's the beauty of science. If we are able to come up with a theory that explains nature in an even more accurate/elegant/encompassing way we can do it.

    Religion? Not so much.

  • There is only one kind of stuff (please define "stuff") in the universe. Quantum physics does not say there is no objective reality (again please define objective reality). Your conclusion that there must be an unblinking facilitator (I assume you mean an organized supernatural force) is baseless.

  • "throwing that out"

Delete the 'that' in the above ;)

  • The term agnostic is pointless.

And not only are you proposing QM does not apply for your unobserved observer, you're throwing that out Einsteins theory of relativity at the same time by the sound of this.
