Traffic heavy again at Mile End this morning. Watch for the oncoming right-turning red van man, who believes he does not need to yield on the crossing... My pal following [off camera] was almost taken out by this driver.
Yep, rules followed, none broken by legally filtering through traffic and stoppong for red lights. It is a joy to cycle in London through traffic jams like this.
From what I could see the Transit van driver couldn't see down the gap, was edging around slowly. Saw you and stopped. Did he pull out behind infront of your friend or something?
Looked like he was creeping out for a look on this occaision but that probably wasn't best practice. It aslo wouldn't stop a bit of involentary clenching when the first movement is spotted.
It's cool that cyclists are allowed on the road, but don't actually have to follow any of the basic rules of the road. Must be nice...

@kmcyc Well, here in the states, that wouldn't fly. Bikes in the US have to follow the same rules as cars when they are in traveling lanes.

I dunno, it's legal in California so I understand but then I guess they may have the worst traffic perhaps? Anyway, it's certainly legal in the UK.
