For a little over five minutes The Weather Channel was experiencing an outage in my area. The screen went black, but the LDL (Lower Display Line AKA "Black Bar") was present. Then in the middle of the local forecast, TWC came back...
LOL that's what is happening now, I can't see anything checked the radar and Georgia has some so-so storms but nothing severe. I can see the forecast tho, I CAN't Wait for tomorrow, Minnesota is going to get some fun windy storms yay!
I think there may have been some severe weather conditions that interfered with your local cable company from receiving the Weather Channel from satellite (hence the black screen, then it returning with pixellation, followed by everything fine). The bar at the bottom is generated by your cable company, right? That's why it's fine.
I've had that happen to me too back recently. It was probably early this September when our cable company was screwing up with TWC. It would show the "Local on the 8's" forecast title screen, and then the next screen will go black, but will show the black bar on the bottom. After about 30-35 seconds later, the forecast would come up, but it would sputter and make weird noises. It would also show national and regional information instead of my local area forecast and conditions.
@mmcornick The cable provider controls the LDL. Not The Weather Channel.
