Yeah, really...after MG '90, they expanded the low-rated Home Show to 90 min(!) before finally giving the noon slot back to their affils in the fall of 93.
To think that ABC didn't learn about the impossibility of scheduling network programs at noon in modern times, after they ran Ryan's Hope into the ground at 12PM.
They also bumped ABC's Sat. 8-9 PM offering(s) in favor of something else (wanna say Star Trek TNG, but not positive)...the network shows were picked up by Worchester independent WHLL (which also carried the 1990 revival of Match Game, another network show WCVB declined to carry, though many ABC affiliates did the same b/c of its 12 noon "death slot").
Thanks that's what I thought. The blue New England backgrounds was the last package with Ernie Anderson voiceovers. It lasted until November 1995 when the Hearst-Argyle look kicked in.
The intro would last until November sweeps, 1993. It was replaced by the remix of the "Big News" theme package and the New England-themed blue backgrounds with the swirling titles, logos, and so forth.

Sometime in 1990. I think it was in the fall.

I have one more question that I forgot to ask earlier: When did this news open debut?

I think that this NewsCenter 5 intro would endure until late 93/early 94?
