English Translation by Ramesh Krishnakumar, to the invocative rendering by Shewta Pandit ( Times music Maha Lakshmi chants)

The hymns are found in the Rig Vedic khilanis, which are appendixes to the Rig veda and date to pre-Buddhist times.

Reciting the Sri Suktam brings prosperity peace, and all-round abundance. It is widely believed that recitation of this powerful stotra bestows unfailing power to the character and personality of those who recite it, to their general well being and to those whom they influence.

Mahalakshmi is prosperity, wealth of life. Wealth of life is not limited to money, gold or silver. All forms of happiness, satisfaction, abundance and position in society are due to Mahalakshmi. Any form of superior grandeur, greatness and glory is due to Mahalakshmi.

The Sri Sukta is one of the Pancha Suktam (5 Suktams) recited during the 3-hour long Abhishek of Lord Sri Venkateswara, at the famed ancient Hill Shrine of the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh, India. The Abhishekam to the main deity is performed every Friday.

  • @shastry009 "This pronunciation is very clear"....I agree 100%....the diction is crystal clear...that means even the mistakes will be clearly audible. I am not saying the voice is bad, what i am saying is "the pronunciation is incorrect" e.g. the word हरिणीम् has been pronounced as हरिणिम्, word रजस्रजाम् wrongly pronounced as रजतस्त्रजाम्, the word देवीमुपह्‌वये wrongly as देवीमुपव्हये...& so on.....this is what I am talking about, if one cares to understand.

  • When I was a kid, I remember, my granny would recite Sri Sooktam every morning in fluent Sanskrit. I have waken up every morning listening to Sri Sooktam. Whenever I hear this now, eyes brim with tears remembering her and my warm childhood. Beauty of our holy Vedas. Because of Sri Sooktam, I started reading Vedas and explored our great past. After studying most of the religions, I agree, no other religion is as rich as Hinduism. I am Iranic by the way. Thanks buddy for uploading.

  • @tarahSky3: I was wondering what the YOUNG PROFESSIONALS are doing out of India! With so many pros exiting, their kids and grandkids, etc. will become lost eventually - thats what happened to me. When my foreparents came out of India by way of being sold the "idea" of a better life, which was a lie and they, my foreparents, didn't teach their off-spring very much which led to me being "ignorant" and it irks me to know they didn't pass on that great culture and language.

  • i like this video a lot. its so clear and pretty. could anyone tell me what instruments they use in the background?

  • @shastry009 I would like to know what is the meaning of "Vedic singer". Do you mean to say that she has learned the Vedas in a Vedic School ( वेदपाठशाला ) ?

many of the SCARED CHANT VOLUMES have even more pathetic pronunciations than this one, so less said the better.... LOL

another thing, you say 'You are pathetic'....how do you know that i am pathetic ?

i didn't need to think before writing the comment because if a pronunciation is wrong, its wrong, you don't need to think about it.
