  • A while ago I had a 1984 235. Shaved 35 thou off the heads, Boyessen two stage reeds, squared up the intake and exhaust ports (didnt raise height), releived the head cooling passages, scalloped out the intake side of the pistons, releived crankcase. Made the boat run to 74 mph @ 6600 with a 23" laser 2 prop. Repowered with a 2.7 and now a 3litre 225 and am dissapointed. XFlow loved the fuel but. Had double the torque of the loopers. 30 L/Hr sking vs 20. John Haines (Aust) Signature 1550LE boat

  • with the stock engine how fast would you go? i have a 99 130 yamaha and i do 40, but iv got a frind that has a 235 evinrude like yours and hell sell it to me for a 100$ so i dont know if my boat will go faster with this engine, it has 18.5 foot. tanks
