  • you can tell she is a maiko because her obi is long

  • If by saying "service" you mean sexually. Then you are wrong. If a geisha takes a patron it doesn't have to be a sexual relationship, the patron only suports her training and buys her different things like kimonos and acsessorize. Of course the geisha can have a sexual relationship if she wants to, but if she dont the the danna cant force her.

  • Maikos are forbidden to wear wigs

  • Not all maikos wear wigs

  • @jesjenanddom and she's not wearing a wig, and her kimono is colorful

  • @Preppydermis

Gion Kouta. This is the Miyagawa-Cho District's version of this Dance. There are 4 other versions, one for each Hanamachi. HTH! ;)

  • what is the title of the song that the shamisen player is singing?

  • Too short

  • Foreigners are allowed to become geisha, they just rarely debute as Meiko or in Kyoto as Geiko, there is a traditional ceremony and training that in years past would start at childhood, but nowadays can start at any time in a womans life, provided she is accepted by an Okiya and successfully completes her training. There have been two western women to become geisha, but only one was a parshal geisha as she never went through training .. The other went through year ling courses.

  • Lovely, mindful dance from an elegant maiko (you can tell by both the elaborate obi and the red lining on the kimono). I enjoyed the shamisen and singing too. Thanks.
