In deze video is te zien (en te horen) hoe Wibi Soerjadi een bewerking van de soundtracks van Super Mario 64 (en een vleugje Mario Kart 64!) ten gehore brengt bij Games In Concert 3 in Utrecht.

Maar juist wanneer hij het prachtige 'Dire, Dire Docks' laat weerklinken, doet een pijnscheut hem abrupt zijn handen terugtrekken.

Een paar dagen terug had Wibi namelijk zijn enkelbanden gescheurd door een ongeluk. Maar hij wilde de fans van Games In Concert 3 in Utrecht niet teleurstellen.

En dat deed hij ook niet.




In this video Wibi Soerjadi performs a rewrite of the Super Mario 64 soundtracks (and a bit of Super Mario Kart 64) on the grand piano at Games In Concert 3 in Utrecht, Holland.

As the beautiful tunes of 'Dire, Dire Docks' sets in, all of a sudden Wibi withdraws his hands, caused by a sudden burst of pain.

A few days earlier he got his ankle torn in an accident. Still, he did not want to disappoint the fans.

And he didn't.

This makes all the live orchestral performances of videogame music so boring and shallow. The virtuosity and passion of Wibi is oustanding and gives me goosebumps. I feels a little undeserving that this probably the least known live performance of popular videogame music.

I didn't even know Wibi was a passionate gamer. Knowing this now, I wish he will some day make an album with only music based on videogames like this.
