Kozo calls for the gearboxes to be made out of solid bronze, I did not have any materiel that large so I used an Aluminum block with bronze bushings pressed in.
One of the advantages to doing this is that by using 4 shorter bushings instead of 2 long ones I can leave a small space in the middle to create an oil reservoir for better lubrication.

You can't go wrong with his designs. The more I get involved in building his engine the more impressed I am with Kozo's work.
