Motorcycle Exhaust Restrictions

Motorcyclists who swap their bikes' stock exhaust systems for so-called loud pipes may be more likely to get a traffic ticket under a California bill that passed the Senate on Monday. SB 435, also known as the Motorcycle Anti-Tampering Act, gives law enforcement officials the ability to cite noise pollution violations under the California Vehicle Code, reinforcing a 27-year-old federal regulation that is rarely enforced.

Under the proposed law, motorcyclists pulled over for other traffic violations could also be cited for illegally noisy exhaust pipes and fined $50 to $100 for a first violation -- a fix-it ticket that could be dismissed with a proof of correction. Subsequent offenses would result in fines of $100 to $250.

Bikers need the noise so people can hear us coming. It's bad enough they pull out in front of us and say they didn't see us. Give us a siren permit for intersections if u take away the noise a bike makes.

Its about time. These fucking weenies going by my house with their noisy pipes piss me off to no end. Funny how the Honda and Yamaha cruisers don't sound so fucking obnoxious that you can't hear them 10 miles up the road like Hardleys. The way I see it..soon all these aging baby boomers who are nothing but attetntion seekers will be too old to ride and they can move on to their next abombination.

I have ridden motorbikes for over 30years and I hate Harley's noise pollution. A cop gave me a noise pollution ticket for a car I had years ago and he ignored a pack of Harley's going past at the same time. Cops are weak.

How about this. Go after the car drivers who drive while on their cell phones. And if they are SO worried about noise, take the sirens off the emergency vehicles. They are louder then any bike pipes I know of.

i think drunks are worse than loud exhaust lets start getting drunks off the road and leave motorcycles alone  also they need money what better way to get it
