A great song written by Yoko Ono from the greatest album "Approximately Infinite Universe" in 1972.

"Approximately Infinite Universe" is a double album by Yoko Ono, released in early 1972. It represents a departure from the experimental avant garde rock of her first two albums towards a more conventional pop/rock sound, while also dabbling in feminist rock. It peaked at #193 in the United States.

"Death Of Samantha" (by Ono):

People say I'm cool
Ya, I'm a cool, chick baby
Every day I thank god
That I'm such a cool, chick baby

When I'm on the phone, I thank god
My voice sounds smooth and clear
Without a trace of tear
When I'm at work, I thank god
I still have that smile ma used to say lit her day

But something inside me
Something inside me died that day

People say I'm cool
Ya, I'm a cool, chick baby
Every day I thank god
That I'm such a cool, chick baby

When I'm with people, I thank god
I can talk hip when I'm crying inside
When I'm with friends, I thank god
I can light a cigarette when I'm choking inside

People say I'm cool
Ya, I'm a cool, chick baby
Every day I thank god
That I'm such a cool, chick baby

A friend lent me shades, so I could
Hide my eyes that day
Was a snowy day, the shades have seen
A lot of things I didn't want to know myself

Was like an accident, part of growing up
People tell me

But something inside me
Something inside me died that day

  • Yoko wrote this song after an evening party at Jerry Rubin. John had drunk and made love with another woman.

  • this is probably her best song!... not bad at all !

  • Get real. You are cool Yoko. In the art world you were fantastic before meeting a teeny bopper. Sorry. Love me do when she's doing cut piece, please. Thanks for taking a little boy and making him a pillar. Fluxus is so important. That you melded is a gift that you shared.

  • Great song!

  • Love it <3

  • @depechemodehome Just because she doesn't sound that bad here doesn't mean she has talent. lol

  • Is that Linda Mccartney with Yoko at 3:14 ?

  • One of my favorite songs of hers. Glad she's still putting music out there, but I like the original versions better than the modern remixes.
