Mock Trial is one of the fastest growing extracurricular activities among secondary school students. Guided by a model that is used in most law schools around the country, students study the structure and process of dispute resolution and learn how to prepare and present Mock Trial cases as both attorneys and witnesses.
This program covers the individual steps of a trial from opening statements to closing arguments and the fundamentals of the legal system from pleadings to judgments. At each stage, the students videotape performances for individual and group evaluation.
Students also learn to analyze complex issues, construct and present effective arguments, assert and respond to objections, and develop convincing witness personas. The program culminates in the preparation and presentation of a complete Mock Trial case.
