To grow palm trees indoors, provide a lot of sun or artificial light, plant them in good composted soil with lots of drainage area, water them heavily and let them dry out between watering. Avoid using fertilizers on indoor palm trees and pick a variety that will not grow too tall with information from a sustainable gardener in this free video on gardening.

  • OK, most of what she said is completely opposite of what I've always read about Palm Tree Care. Sounds like she was describing how to take care of a cactus for a moment there.

  • I love palms, sorry to say i have killed a few but the one I have now looks good and is sending up a new frond, I am so excited, I do not know the real name but it was sold as a dinosaur palm, I have been very careful with water and now wonder if i should put her in the shower and drench her, I love her and do not want to drown her. Has anyone flooded their palm and would you recommend it ?????

  • Cutting a palms dying leaves can actually severely damage the plant (botanically: cutting whole petioles off). If the leaves - and Petiole - are all brown, then it should be fine, but if its at least 40% green, it should be left. Otherwise it might have problems growing.

  • Some species of palms will grow just fine in the shade. Trachycarpus fortunei will grow in both conditions. In more shade the petioles will get much longer, but they still look awesome.

  • You have OCD. Get help.

  • Thank you
