hey FatalBurnUSMC, I have just one quick question. where I plan on going to college(i want to get college done fast so I can go AD or officer), there is a LAR company a little less than 2 hrs away. assuming id be able to get that unit, what should I go for, 0313 or 0311? i would assume 0313 is more like tank crewman and 0311 scouts are more infantry, i would like a combination of both.

@marleynrs8 Hey, firstly, you cant pick which unit you go to, they'll send you where your needed. So 1st and 3rd LAR are in CA and 2nd is in NC. If you go the officer route you might be able to pick, i honestly don't know. Second. Im a scout, and id suggest being a scout over a crewman any day. Its fun to gun the 25mm but all the mechanical work and maintenance work that comes with the mos isn't worth it to me. Im happy being a scout. And the LAR officer billet is like the crewman billet VC.

@FatalBurnUSMC sorry, i didn't make myself clear. i'd be going reserves, so i can pick my specific MOS. so definitely go scout? i'm not big into maintenance, but do the scouts get to crew the LAV at any point? I'd like to do that at some point, but mainly do the Infantry stuff.

@marleynrs8 Oh, in that case you'll go to 4th LAR, and yes scouts are trained to operate the LAV too. So you'll learn to drive it and shoot the weapon systems. Once in a while you'll help the crewman work on it but that's not your job as a scout.

Yeah, scouts are mostly there to conduct dismounted reconnaissance opps or assault an objective during a raid. Other units might say it Lazy A** Rifleman, but their only jealous. We get there first and fast, and have energy to do what we have to do.

@FatalBurnUSMC quick question. i know there are alot of kids who come asking how they can be a badass recon bubba or something. but im serious on this one. would the 4th have slots for STA snipers? i would really like to be a sniper.
