Gary Brooker - Lead me to the Water 1983

Take me by the hand
Lead me to the water
I will be your lamb
Heading for the slaughter

I've been away from home too long
But I still taste the tears
And when I'm in some stranger's arms
I still feel you near

Take me by the hand
Lead me to the water
I will be your lamb
Heading for the slaughter

Now if they ask me how I feel
I smile and say 'Just fine!'
But deep inside this lonely heart
I know you're still mine

Come take me by the hand
Lead me from the fire
We'll fly up from this land
We're going to get higher - higher

(Instrumental)

So this is where the end begins
The parting of the ways
Somebody's calling me up there
I hear it in the waves

Take me by the hand
Lead me to the water

Hi Jangalene1, Indeed, Phil Collins appears on several other tracks..That is why i noted his drumkit set up..Giving that recocnizable sound of that period..

I only have the LP :-)

  • @PMCcty ...Phil Collins' also plays Drums on the album also'...Have you got the remastered *Lead me to the water" CD yet...With a Bonus track..?

  • This musical genius has a severely suberb after-hits-and-glory carreer!

  • he was such a cute charming young man! what a voice, great performance! you still very charming mr gary brooker, happy 67th birthday. amazing talented.cheers!

  • I love Gary Brooker!

  • Excellent song. Dumb 80's video. Gary Brooker is so great. Thanks for posting.

  • I just finished converting this song from LP to digital recording...

Pitty that the next song on the album, "The angler", is not ( yet ) available on youtube...

The Angler features Phil Collins on drums, the typical set up of his drumkit , is well heard...:-)

People like George Harrison and good friend Eric Clapton also played on the album..

    Budi
