Zeal was developed by a group of graduate students from the Rochester Institute of Technology for a 3D graphics programming course. It uses Augmented Reality technology that allows players to step away from the controller and take a more active role in the game.
Zeal itself is a very basic real time strategy game pitting two players against each other where the goal is to score 1000 points to win the match. Points are awarded by seizing control of any of three control points on the map. Players move fiduciary markers on a real world surface to control their units and watch on the screen as their units come to life and interact in the world.
