The Famara Cliff Run.South Downs Hang Gliding Lanzarote 2012.

My first foray onto the big Famara Cliffs in Lanzarote on an Airborne Sting 3. The wind was off to the north and we were not expecting the cliffs to work. It was the last day of the trip so I thought I would fly up there and check it out. The head wind component made progress slow at times,,,,,,,.....Litespeed S5 please!!!!!

We flew at Mirador (north-north east,cliff soaring),Mala (NE,thermic),Matcha (easterly) and we soared off the Famara high launch one day.

It wasn't quite perfect because the wind had too much north in it but still a fabulous flight. Yes it was JB's trip and highly recommended. We flew every day and I had 9 hours airtime in 6 days!

It almost looks like you are flying on the planet Mars because of the reddish volcanic rock. Is it expensive, accommodation wise? I would be coming from Canada, is there a good selection of rental gliders?
