Mr. Dan Hesse,
As you are aware from previous correspondences (available upon
request) I have been completely disappointed with the deceptive
advertising practices (regarding El Paso phone coverage) and service
Sprint has provided me and other citizens of the city of El Paso. I
would like to take this opportunity to let you know of my intent to
help current and prospective Sprint customers aware of the problems
associated with reception in and throughout the city of El Paso.
According to your coverage detail map
(http://coverage.sprint.com/IMPACT.jsp?ECID=vanity:coverage) El Paso
residents should receive good to fair coverage throughout the city. I
have been surprised to hear many friends and colleagues complain about
drop calls, weak and/or no signal. Colleagues at work have had to
accept the fact that they can not make and/or accept calls while they
are at work (see
http://www.cellreception.com/coverage/tx/el-paso/page1.html&filter_sprint=1).
With my experience with Sprint, I received NO reception at my place of
work (near Cotton St. and Paisano). I have been charged international
calls "place in Mexico City", 450 miles away, despite records placing
me in El Paso in the morning and afternoon. I have spoken with
numerous customer representatives at Sprint and told that I would have
to live with the reception. Eventually Sprint let me cancel one line
of my family plan of four.
I have asked Sprint to allow me to cancel the whole family plan but
they refused. Because of this I have been left with no option but to
use two separate phone carriers (Verizon and Sprint) adding monthly
fees. I have been told that I will have to pay $170 ($510 total) to
cancel each of the three remaining line if I want out of the contract.
I wouldn't think twice about doing this IF I had the funds.
As I had mentioned at the beginning I intend to dissuade current
customers and prospective customers from doing business with Sprint. I
have spoken and helped approximately 12 colleagues at work, all of
which are having the same problems, reconsider renewing their
contracts with Sprint. I have also included the El Paso Times, El
Diario (a Spanish News Publication in El Paso and Juarez, MX) in hopes
of bringing others whom are having similar problems with their Sprint
service to speak up and encourage Sprint administration to address
this issue. I have attached a flyer that I will be posting throughout
my place of employment as well as University of Texas at El Paso
(UTEP), on social networks; Facebook, emails, Verizon Wireless
Community (http://community.vzw.com/), etc.
I am now on a plan with Verizon (of which I was a customer of over 6
years prior to going with Sprint) on the line Sprint let me cancel.
There has been absolutely NO reception problems. Verizon's motto, the
"nation's largest, most reliable 3G network and the fastest and most
advanced 4G LTE network" is an accurate statement.
I would like to ask once again that Sprint allow me to cancel the rest
of the original family plan without penalty so that I may be on a
truly 'family plan' with Verizon. I look forward to speaking with you
and hopefully find a solution that will be amicable to myself, Sprint,
my colleagues, and maybe even those that work for El Paso Times and El
Diario News that are facing the same problems I've encountered.
I can be reached at (915) 490-9245.
Regards,
Robert Garcia

I've already got it taken care of. After months of trying to address this problem over and over sprint allowed me to cancel my contract of 5 lines without any early termination fees. I am now with Verizon and have absolutely NO reception problems WHATSOEVER!!
