IMPORTANT: "C: \ Users \ YOURNAME \ Documents \ My Games \ Skyrim". That's the correct path for the SkyrimPrefs.ini file! CAREFUL there is another file named the same in Skyrim's installation folder but editing it has NO effect.

For mid-high end PCs:
iShadowMapResolution=4096
iShadowMaskQuarter=5
iBlurDeferredShadowMask=4
fShadowDistance=2500

For low-mid end PCs:
iShadowMapResolution=2048
iShadowMaskQuarter=5
iBlurDeferredShadowMask=6
fShadowDistance=2500

PS: There are claims that setting iShadowMapResolution=8192 is another way to fix the shadows issue, however that creates ugly flickering issues in many areas. There are also claims that setting iBlurDeferredShadowMask=1 or 0 fixes the shadows issue, and while screenshots of those settings may look decent, the shadows look horrible in motion/gameplay. So for best results I'd suggest my settings over any other... try them and enjoy.

  • Its (fShadowDistance=8000.0000) should I change it to 2500 ?

  • Dude, you are awesome. Those Lego brick shadows were seriously annoying.

  • @Epiphethes you linked this video bro

  • youtube.com/watch?v=0VAHDJr9vWg I found this solution actually got rid fo the problem entirely. I still had slight flickering with the solution presented above.

  • This actually helped ALOT. There is still a slight flicker but nothing like the way it was before. I am noticing alot more lag but I am trying to run everything on high so I might have to adjust some of the settings. Stop bitching about it because until there is a patch there is nothing you can do. Or throw your junky computer in the garbage. My room mate runs this on a similar computer but has a different graphics card that I do and has NONE of the shadow flicker issue. Go figure LOL.

  • @Taaplari yeah shadows are smoother and flickering shit is gone. Magic, superb, thanks. Also didnt notice any performance decrese.

  • Great fix, but it was too much of an impact on my pc! Great nevertheless

  • @0011Darkone cool story bro

  • "No performance hit" pffft!

    All it does is increase the resolution and decrease the render distance.

    He basically told you to set your shadows to ultra, and then chop them off past 2000 units to save fps. It's not a fix, it just hides the problem. You can easily tell if you look at a distance.

  • It works! Really, very helpful! THX MAN! ;] You are great! ;D
