In addition it is also worth noting algebraic notation is missing from two of those chess sets. If analysis or book reading is your intention, go with my previous suggestion. In fact, at $5, buy at least 2 if not more.
My recommendation from personal experience is the 6" Ultimate Magnetic travel chess - checkbook style. The pieces are easier to distinguish and most importantly are easy to move and always stays on the board unless removed by you. In addition the set costs only $5 in comparison to those more expensive sets. Replacing lost pieces is therefore much cheaper.
No offense but in the beginning you sound a lot like Whoopi Goldberg. I am also looking into buying the one that you met your wife with. I am going to play my dad on the plane to Mexico. Can you do another video on different travel chess sets.
I know it's just an advertisement for Chess House, but would it have killed you to tell us the brand names of the last two boards? So we could like, search and find them. I mean, come on...
Fairly good review. However, since it is a travel chess review, you should have explained the pros and especially cons, of how well the chess pieces stay in place during travel for each set. For instance, I was wondering how the "zip-up" case set, would hold piece positions, say in a duffle bag, or suitcase. And of course, the big folding case, can only be stored on it's side. You should have gone into these things. But then you are a seller.
yeah i bought the novag carnellian 2 chess computer from chess house, free delivery for any order over 100.00. since the carnelian is only 98 dollars and change i only needed to purchase a small key chain to put order over 100.00. as far as the carnellian is concerned i am a little to strong for the machine as it rates at about 1900 although seems to play at about a 1600 level, i would recomend for beginner or intemediate player, looks nice too, real wood pieces, im saving up for the citrine.
Quite a few years back my family had a chess set similar to the third one you showed. The board was quite durable and worked quite well, but the chess peices themselves were a little less then satisfactory. The magnets fell out of the bottom and they cracked over time. With a baby in the house I would like to be sure this wouldn't happen. How sturdy are the chess peices themselves?
Very nice sets. Personally, I would choose the first one, because it seems to have least hassle to set up and transport.
