This is my first YouTube film.
This was also my very first time building and starting a fire. I used an Ultimate Survival Technologies BlastMatch™ which was designed for Air Force fighter pilots at risk of being shot down in rugged terrain. http://www.ultimatesurvival.com/product_view.cfm?product_ID=436

This is ONE of the things that my dad requires we learn if we are going to hike and camp in the wilderness. He teaches us how to "build" a fire that we can start from a single match. Next we learn to ignite tinder with a single spark or ember and breathe it into a flame. After that we have to prove we are proficient in making a spark from a flint & steel, an ember with a bow drill, and igniting tinder using a magnifying glass. That way when we are in the woods, if a survival/emergency situation occurs we have the knowledge and confidence to build a fire; which as you know goes a LONG away in helping someone lost or hurt survive. I felt that I was ready to try by myself and Dad decided to video it. This is our first video and I decided to post it even though Dad messed up and didn't get the part where I sparked the BlastMatch into the tinder.
