The op is saying, ( i think) There is no turbo setup for the 1az-fse. A supercharger is easy to setup. ( hes right there not as tempermental)

A supercharger can still obtain alot more hoarse power than your average rav4.

he chooses the supercharger because they are more reliable then a turbo setup.

-- yes they are more reliable and easier to set up--- yes turbos are more efficent and late model turbos have little to no lag-- there so much more to the turbo vs supercharger. do reserch

Because turbochargers are more simple to operate/maintain, are a efficiency-increasing device (while superchargers cause parasitic losses) and because it is easier to increase power gains with a turbo via boost adjustment, whereas with a supercharger eventually you end up with diminishing returns and heat problems as you change pulley ratios to increase supercharger rotational speed (to increase boost).

There is no lag with a supercharger, it is belt-driven from the crankshaft. Supers do have what is known as parasitic loss since they do not increase the efficiency of the engine (like a turbo does) but a properly designed system will not result in a net power loss anywhere in the RPM range.
