Game engine written in C++ which implements a Lua console. Uses Ogre for rendering, OIS for input, OpenAL for sound, and Bullet (not seen in this clip) for physics.

  • Any chance I could entice you to contribute OpenAL implementation to our MIT open source game engine Grit Engine (google, it's there). The engine is based on C++, Bullet, Lua, Ogre. The lead programmer is very experienced, however alone in programming at this time. All the help we can get type stuff. Hope to see you there? You don't have to do audio, you can do anything, I am trying to build a bigger staff.

  • @supermortalhuman Hey. I checked Grit out. It looks really promising. I have a lot on my plate right now, but things WILL settle soon, and it would be fun to be involved in Grit.

I'll see if I can check it out from your SVN and get acquainted with the codebase ;)

  • @EricLavesson Awesome! I'm so glad you're interested, we need more people! You can grab just the snapshot too, on the DL page, it'll be the current SVN at the time of download, in case it's easier than setting up svn at first =)

  • @supermortalhuman That's OK. I use SVN on a daily basis, so everything is setup already ;)

  • @EricLavesson Sweet :D One extra tip, when you first grab the engine, you don't have to build it to try it out. In Grit_Core\Media\ folder, you will find the pre-built exe. The wiki has a bunch of info for first time use, commands and stuff, and we are almost always in the IRC room, no shame in the nick-tagging game =)

I think you will be surprised at how much he has already done, and how much can be done with the lua already, though it is likely some will need to be hard-coded eventually :P
