  • 3-7, sorry for the mess-up..

  • Actually, ViralVideoRater, not all Aussies' tails are docked. Like people have been saying, they dock the tails between 4-7 days of age (I believe), for SAFETY. So, they are "worked correctly". Not all Aussies have to have their tail docked.

  • @verginas That dog's Aussie all the way - the tail is throwing you.

  • @screwusernames050 As breeders, we dock the tail for two main reasons. For one thing, that's a breed standard with the ASCA, to whose standards we adhere to religiously. Secondly, it is done for the dog's own safety. When working cattle, it is entirely too easy for a tail to get shut in a gate and ripped off (which happens to tailed stockdogs like Borders quite often) or stepped on by livestock, which leads to the dog getting trampled. We aren't like Doberman breeders...it's not just for looks.

  • @TheViralVideoRater Actually, most Australians are born with full tails which are then docked between 3 and 7 days of age. This is done for safety purposes (tails get shut in gates, stepped on by cattle, etc.) At our kennel, about half of our dogs are born with full tails. It is a very slim-built dog for an Aussie, so it could easily be mistaken for a BC, especially with the tail. But a full tail does not mean it's an "incorrectly worked Aussie". That's a very naive statement.

  • @samanthabois Aussies dont have tails. So its either a border collie or not a correctly worked aussie.

  • cute aussie! i <3 them!

  • I love Jahz!!! I hope Lottie is half as good as her one day!! :D
