Cover version.
A tribute to Michael Holliday.
Words and music by Burt Bacharach / Hal David
Someday I'm gonna write
The story of my life
I'll tell about the night we met
And how my heart can't forget
The way you smiled at me

I'd like the world to know
The story of my life
The moment when your lips met mine
And that first exciting time
I held you close to me

The sorrow when our love was breaking up
The memory of a broken heart
And later on the joy of making up
Never never more to part

There's one thing left to do
Before my story's through
I've got to take you for my wife
So the story of my life
Can start and end with you

The sorrow when our love was breaking up
The memory of a broken heart
And later on the joy of making up
Never never more to part

There's one thing left to do
Before my story's through
I've got to take you for my wife
So the story of my life
Can start and end
Can start and end
Can start and end with you

  • Thanks! I'd add Stairway of Love to the list of favourites myself :)

  • "He had a rich voice and his style echoed that of Bing Crosby"

he also had a tremendous chin! great song, though, thanks for posting!

  • LOL! if i had a rich voice like his, i could live with the chin. thanks for the comment :)

  • Great cover version of a great song. 5***** from me!

  • Thank you!

  • About 1959 was it? I remember it as a kid.

  • It reached #1 in the UK in 1958. I think it was covered in the US by Marty Robbins.

  • I'm still looking for Rooney.

  • Any one can help with a copy of "Miracle of monday morning" Roy . Essex.

  • No Michael Holliday,,,good effort

  • Rooney was the B side of In Love - it was the theme song to the film of the same name which starred John Gregson as Rooney amorous Irish dustman

  • @OrodesIII - Rooney was the B side of In Love - it was the theme song to the film of the same name which starred John Gregson as Rooney amorous Irish dustman

  • Wish I could find his "Rooney" song somewhere.

  • Great version. This, plus 'Starry Eyed' as well as "Drums' were my 3 favorites by him.

  • I think Dave King also sang it. In these times you sometimes got the same song from several singers in the top twenty
