OMG they used rubber dummies both in the chariot scene when getting trampled and the bodies were fake in the rowing sequence..Look carefully and you can see that they are fake. No one died during this production...The only person that died was the producer Sam Zimbalist who had a massive heart attack since the entire MGM studio was riding on the success of this film.

Well I like ANY shot that is composed well, but one thing that really stuck out for me as a kid was Star Wars, how they specifically intended the actors to appear really small over a giant backdrop to imply the dramatic scale of these settings. I know that goes against what I said about CGI effects and all that, but that was real cinema effects back then, before computers took over and sucked out all the creativity of a scene.

Wow! What scenery! I've always had an appreciation for classic cinema such as this, and this footage only strengthens it! The more I watch incredible cinematography like this, the more I cannot stand the computer-generated garbage of today. It's really a shame that no filmmaker is willing to be bold enough to try and attempt to make a film that strives to meet the caliber of these timeless epics.
