This is the final step for this process. The resins are at the following links below.
The sellers do not advertise them as solar encapsulation resins BUT because we are NOT from encapsulating, they will work. The resins stay sturdy for years.

  • Ebay sellers are not authorized to repackage the silicone. Dow has specific repackaging processes for resellers. 6010 is sensitive to contamination.

  • awesome vid but just one question... do you only need to encapsulate the backs of the cells? or do you need to do the front too? because you seem like you were implying that the resin leaking through the panel is a bad thing.

  • @subscribeforcandy This method is back only, front is glass. This makes the UV exposure to the resin less of a factor.

  • Wait wait wait. MIxing 2:1 by weight is not the same as mixing 2:1 by volume. If the two solutions don't weigh the same per fluid ounce, then you can see that the volumes won't match the 2:1 ratio. I presume you think the difference is negligible.

  • @peppeddu This resin is 50 cents an ounce.

    THIS PANEL= 50¢ BROKEN CELLS @1.8w per cell x 36=$18

    Glass=Free

    Wood/screws/tape=$5

    40 ounces of resin=$20

    10g wire 8ft = $5

    $48 total

60 watt panel = true panel output =49 watts

    through a GTI=39 watts.

  • gettin high off resin lol

  • These vids are fantastic. I truly appreciate the time and effort you put in to show us all how to do this. Moreover, I really like that you don't edit out your mistakes! It helps us all to learn from them! Where do you buy the Solar cells? Ebay?

  • You didn't mention in the video, but it seems like it would have been a good idea to test the panel before reaching the "point of no return" and applying the resin.

You could also probably apply (and let dry) some silicone around the terminals before you apply the resin. Should save you the 6oz of waste.

  • Sorry, but I didn’t get it, which resins get mixed 16:8 ounces?

    What about Sylgard?

  • Wow, I had no idea building my own paney was this involved. I bought a small Ebay kit. So the purpose of the resin is to keep out the humidity and water condensation inside?

  • Had to take the headphones off to make sure my outdoor cat didn't get inside, from the cat in your video, haha.

  • You can use simply Epoxide Resin with this way ..... no mater the color.

You can use o cheep grey or something like this .... don't care.

  • Crap! Wish I would've watched this a week ago. I have two panels that have been in the incubator for 4 days due to wet spots. They are curing but it's taking forever. Thanks for your time, putting all of this info out for us Dan.

  • @Kufunklefec ... Not to be too brusque, but this is part "5" of a six part video...

  • GREAT VIDEOS I HAVE LEARNED ALOT FROM YOU!! COULD A VINYL CLAD WINDOW BE USED OR A SLIDING GLASS DOOR?
