Here is a famous Brazilian song (written by Antonio Carlos Jobim) sung in French and English by the delicious Claudine Longet, a French actress and singer (once married to Andy Williams) who is remembered for her role in "The Party" (with Peter Sellers) as well as for her delicate and smooth voice and sophisticated style, typical of the sixties.
Claudine Georgette Longet (born in 1942 in Paris) was a popular singer and recording artist in the 1960's and 1970's. In 1968, she appeared in "The Party" with Peter Sellers and sang "Nothing to Lose" by Henry Mancini. Longet recorded a series of five albums for A&M Records between 1966 and 1970 and two albums for Barnaby label in 1971 and 1972. Longet also made frequent acting appearances in television series and appeared from time to time on Andy Williams' variety series and specials. Williams called Longet a beautiful, sleek brunette with large, doe eyes, "my favorite French singer".
Enjoy!

  • I would like to know where is Claudine now? Is she still alive as I thought tributes were for dead people?

  • No, tributes are also for living people! And yes, Claudine is still alive!

  • She was in an episode of McHale's Navy "The Big Raffle". That episode is here on You Tube.

  • @jazza123456789o Claudine was caught up in a scandal in 1976 when she shot her boyfriend Spyder Sabich, a well known skier but got off on a misdemeanor. She was once married to Andy Williams but she faded from the spotlight after the trial and it's anyone's guess where she is now. I've often wondered what ever became of her. I remember hearing her sing a song called Monsieur DuPont and I thought at the time how well it fit her voice. I would love to find that clip of her singing it..

  • My mother had her album back in around the 1970's. I loved her and her look as a child. Thank you so much for posting this up! It has been a major flashback!

  • @jazza123456789o Claudine married her lawyer who represented her in the Spider Sabitch case and lives in Aspen and Hawaii with him. Not sure if she ever had kids with him, though. VERY sad to see her marriage end with Andy Williams and even sadder for her three kids to have to deal with all this. Her middle son lives in Costa Rica and her daughter, Noelle, once did some modeling. Hope these tidbits of info help. (For more info, read Andy's book, "Moon River and Me".)

  • It's very relaxing music.

  • @Mickagume

oh so eloquently put into words...

    the women was sexy

  • Femme FATALE!

  • She never had much of a voice, but somehow it works.

  • @unklewink too bad she's a murderer, huh?

  • @other100a Yes. About how she killed someone and got away with it.
