the thing is that this is a children's song so it was originally very happy. The fact that they're singing it when theyre about to 'die' is what makes it so sad. Its like a political prisoner singing the national anthem when facing a firing squad.

i watched all tachikomas sacrifice song videos on youtube and i like them all, thats the sadest moment in ghost in the shell. Tchikomas i love you so much.

Yeah, but in the german version the Tachikomas sing in german. So the english translators were simply too lazy to translate & dub this song.

Solid State Society is a movie and is not part of the original story line.--and what the major brought back was only 3 out of the 7 or so tachikomas that she constructed out of data she found on the net.. and seeing that they had ghosts in the end, they weren't technically "brought back", nor can they be.
