Also, it's not easy collecting signatures. You take a lot of shit from people. The guy who did this video...WTF...you don't believe in the democratic process? It's not perfect but at least it allows people to have some choice. Once the issue gets on the ballot it is objectively broken down in the voter guide regarding the pro's and cons. But if assholes like this gripe about how it's summarized then it prevents it from qualifying and giving people a choice.This A-hole is completely un-democratic

It's just to get it on the ballot, voter initiatives require substantial amount of signatures to qualify for an election. For instance, in California, a constiitutional amendment requires 8% of the electorate (total votes casted) for the previous Governors Election. Therefore, they require over 1 million signatures with even distribution of all counties in the state. Petitioning has been criticized because the gatherer is paid. Can't you get paid for doing something you believe in?

I wouldn't count on this not passing if it gets on the ballot. Repubs never show their whole hand until they have to, and I'm sure that they've got a sophisticated ad campaign all set to go to trick voters into going for it. It's how the GOP operates. Not an honest bone in any of them.

Republicans have blocked Democrats' attempts to eliminate the electoral college (by constitutional amendment or by all states at once). Either nationally by counting the popular votes or by divvying up the electoral votes in each state, Democrats would win. Republicans are preventing this same thing from happening in Texas, where Democrats would pick up many electoral votes. This is another Karl Rove scheme to prevent Democrats from having their votes count and be counted.

What petitions have lefties misrepresented? I know you can't because the initiative process is a tool of rich elites, the corporate class. That's all who can afford to hire enough petition signature gatherers to get initiatives on the ballot. Stop making up lies.

Democrats' attempts to get rid of electoral college have been blocked by Republicans. This is Karl Rove trying to game the system by allowing only Republican voters' ballots get counted. Republicans have blocked this from happening in Texas. You need to wake up and learn how the GOP is dirty and for the elites only.

If states like Texas and Georgia and Arizona and Tennessee are willing to do the same thing first, sure why not??

But then again, wouldn't it be easier to just eliminate the electoral college all together?

Changing the voting laws in California would allow a candidate to lose the popular vote by millions of votes and still become president.
