a 5mW RED laser does no damage, the ones you buy a Walmart, a properly engineered 5mW green will do damage. Even if you don't realise it. Due to the fact that it is actually using REAL materials, used to make a REAL laser. Not a keychain =/

um the LOWER wattages are used for playing with your ets (they follow the dot) and the <5mW (the ones you buy a walmart) don't cause any harm to ANYTHING, FDA proved they haveno damage on the eyes. Lasers are used widely.
For example: laser shows, laser theatre, military, measuring (scope, range, and many other), astronomy, pointing, many medical uses, cutting, and a lot of other application.
