A sharp maul and an 18 yr old to help move would be faster AND cheaper than the gas to run the splitter. Birch. Not a hard axe to run.

@kenyonh you know, why dont you old ass bastards stop using us as cheap labor. i find it highly offensive because im 19, and a jack of all trades i can LEGALLY get my hands on. im as strong as a mule. and all yall want to tell me to come help you because i have pretty much the strongest work ethic out of anyone my age, and i do the best my skills let me, i dont know how to fail, and yall still pay us way less than were worth? treat us with some dignity and we might act like we have some! bastard

every time you touch the wood is a waste of time, how about make a table where the wood falls when cut, then at the other end have someone running the splitter, THEN through into a pile? my back has been doing wood for 30 plus years, it does take it's toll, the less you bend over the better
