proves great engineering? a big reason the big three are going out if for their bullshit engineering. ford has been putting oil filters upside down over their engine bay, and they have been recalled for lighting on fire in their garages.
as far as a good diesel powerplant goes yeah american is a good way to go. but overall engineering? japan is putting us out, there is a reason toyota and nissan have the BEST resale there is.
