A new documentary by Internews that premiered on the South African Broadcasting Corporation yesterday, tells the inspiring story of Betty Tom, a twenty-something HIV-positive widow who challenged tradition and transformed her village on the shores of Lake Victoria in Kenya. The video was produced by Internews Senior Resident Advisor, Mia Malan.
LOVE IS ANCIENT AND ETERNAL
HERA is the Luo word for love. Indeed, it's love that our ancestors had for one another and the land of their own ancestors that they preserved Luoland, as well as Luo Culture. It's also inside that Culture that they brought us up in Dignity and Security. Now, our generation MUST bring up the grandchildren of our ancestors inside their ancestral Culture, Dignity, Security and above all, HERA (love). Luo children are the automatic HEIRS of Luoland and Luo Culture.
