Great actors can convince you (even if it's for a moment) that they are someone else. They can create personalities, characters, egos. True artists do the same thing.

It is not just reading the wrods in the script but the emotion the actor brings which really gives life to that character. Sometimes the Actor will ad lib & go off script but be giving a better preformance then the mere words.

The art is the bringing to life the character in te script.

If you like Star trek the Character of Q is a prime example. The way John De Lancey played Q is what made Q so poplar. It wasn't the words on the script or even the director.

yea..you are wrong...is true that the director and writers have the vision..but the actor is the one that encapsulates and project the emotions ..and that is a very hard thing to do..is art theres no question. I wonder if you ever saw a script. It's a text, and that's it. Actors study and create a whole interpretation on it. Directors work on actor bring to them. You can not make an actor do something that he's not capable of, you just work in what he got for you. Acting is feeling the script, its not like reading it in blank. Directors discuss their point of the thing with the actor, and this is the very soul of the thing. And thats why they aways like to work with the same actors.

Actors are artists by definition. The American Heritage Dictionary: "artist 1. One [..] who is able by virtue of imagination and talent or skill to create works of aesthetic value, especially in the fine arts. 2. A person whose work shows exceptional creative ability or skill. 3. One, such as an ACTOR or singer, who works in the performing arts."

VH can't show that actors don't meet the definition of artist, he can only redefine the word to pull the rug from under their feet.
