  • Try it with a rel 427 cobra!!!

  • @deannaber

Believe me, it wouldn't have mattered. The Cobra would have to be a turbo'd version to keep up with the Supra. Right now several Supras and now turbo Gallardo's hold the Texas Mile records. Not many Cobras can achieve 240 in the flying mile.

  • @SirHC888 To relate to what your saying i have seen some slug 427s?i assume your knowlegble with the early cobra track records! there are 289 cobras that mopped up the 427s!!! although there are some hard running big block cobras that could at least lock horns and or hold off the supra , the 351 could be yanked and prepped to kill the supra "on the motor" and still less to build i would like to see that:) still a good race 351 did good in the range it was built for thumbs up

I'm generally familiar that sometimes (but rarely) displacement doesn't necessary rule. It's a matter of setup. I know both owners and we are all friends so it's quite interesting how heated the discussion gets. You strap on a turbo to something with double the displacement and with the right amount of fuel and timing you will make way more torque and HP than that little 3 liter Supra. I used to run an INDY Buick V6 and was easily eclipsed by motors with double the diplacement

  • The Cobra obviously did not hit the gas....

  • It's a Supra, of course the Cobra hit the gas. Where have you been in the last 10 years?

  • kinda knew that would happen. Highways runs are a supra's best friend :P From a dig the cobra would have blown him outta the water to a quarter mile though, but the supra would win in the top end. Both nice cars:D

  • A real 427 especially a OHC 427 would have eaten the Supra alive!! 2,000lbs and 700 horsepower are to hard to beat. Carroll's personal one had over 800 to the wheels!! I have been in a twin turbo supra and a remake 427 the cobra wins hands down!!

  • @SirHC888 - There's dozens of Ford GT's though...

  • @deannaber Track talk gets serious at times lol wow an indy buick six !!! sounds impressive another great contender

  • @SirHC888 I see your point turbo cars are killers !! how ever its not the engine size or turbo its the combo. it depends on what set up even that 351 could have ?in a low mid speed street race as far as the flying mile record im not in dis belief of those stats you mentioned!! i was impressed though the little 351 hung in there for a min with no turbo and not a built motor! from what i have understood ? for years a 302 sbc twin turbo holds some unbeatin salt flat world record ?

  • @cruisecat Oh it did but thats what happens when a 40k car meets a 100k car.

  • @o56kid yea it had 427.. but even so.. that cobra is making alot of HP and its weight to power ratio is better than the supra
