The Sea Star is a crab fishing boat that is featured in Season One of the Discovery Channel hit series "The Deadliest Catch" and has since become the "chase boat" for that series. This means that the Sea Star is the boat that "chases" the other boats while loaded with a camera crew in order to help them film the exterior shots of the other boats on the show while they are out to sea. IF YOU ARE IN SEATTLE YOU CAN ACTUALLY TOUR THE SEA STAR WHILE IT IS DOCKED! The current location of the boat is at Dock 9 at Fisherman's Terminal in Ballard. The entrance is literally the first street you can turn west on after the south end of the Ballard Bridge. You can also go to www.seastartours.com or call Mike Day at 206-550-2623 for more information or more specific directions.

ALSO, the Sea Star will be at that location only through September 9th, 2008 because then it will sail to the Boats Afloat Show at Chandler Cove (Lake Union) and will be there from September 10-15. Then it will be back at Fisherman's Terminal on September 21 for the Fisherman's Fall Festival--ONE DAY ONLY, After that, it will then set sail for he Bering Sea to prepare for filming the King Crab season for Deadliest Catch.

UPDATE: Turns out that this may end up being the "pilot" for something bigger! More on that later...

SO GO TOUR THIS BOAT WHILE YOU CAN because you may not get another chance until after the January-March Opilio Season next year sometime! (WATCH THIS AND ALL OF MY VIDEOS IN HIGH QUALITY FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE!)

  • Wonderful video, wonderful tour... I've visited the Sea Star several times and taken the tour numerous times.  It's a great place to bring visitors...
